XTVA HHCH head - How is it opened up?

Hi,

As the title suggests I would like to open up the XTVA HHCH - but theres no screws or any obvious way of getting it open without destroying the thing. There's a back panel that seems like it can be lifted up, but will this ruin the unit? Are these a non-repairable item?

Cheers,
Matt

Its a sealed unit. Like the Jedi mic. It would be an expensive way to get into it. I wouldnt do it unless you had a obvious bad HHCH and had nothing to loose

You remove the rubber boot at the bottom of the mic, unlpug the mic cord (there is a clip inside) and there are two tabs on the square end of it. Pry thos sides out a little and it comes apart.

wow.. I never saw that I had one that got smashed in a power drivers seat track and ended up using a screwdriver to open it up the caveman way.

The official Motorola-specified method of opening up a SVA/AVA housing is to lay the top/front against the edge of a table and whack at the back of the top half with a rubber mallet. No kidding. Caveman method indeed.

Oh, btw, all those supposed W3 Astro display boards on Ebay don't actually go in a W3 head.. they're just Astro Saber display boards without flexes.
