Differences with these 2 KVL3000's

Post by mrtor »

Good Afternoon from Sunny Melbourne, Australia

being a newbie to the world of encryption, I have just purchased from one of the users here on the board 6 x DES XL and DES OFB modules for my XTS 3000's

Now I need the KVL

I have found 2 on ebay from the one seller

1 says it supports DES
http://www.ebay.com/itm/KVL3000-Motorol ... 5941263716

the other says it supports Astro 25 and ASN
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorola-KVL-30 ... 416410b2e8

to quote from the 2nd auction page
It has 2 MODES to choose from ASTRO 25 and ASN.
It also has the actual flash of DES-XL and DES-OFB

As stated I have 6 x 0105956V67 boards coming my way for XTS3000 Model 3's

Will both of these load keys into my radios ?

What is the diference with the 2nd auction for ASTRO 25 and ASN ?

Thank you in advance learned peopled :-)

Regards
Mike

If you will only be using 1 encryption key the first one will work just fine. If you plan on doing any multi key stuff. The second one will work a little better. The astro 25 mode is the easy way for multikey ops in my opinion.

i have the astro25 /asn one and this works fine you will need to select asn mode for it to work
another problem i come across is the diffrent xts3000 firmwares and des boards firmware if you have a 5.6 xts3000 firmware and a des enc of 3.55 you can only have 1 key
the best combos of firmware are xts3000 5.6 and des emc 2.xx all keys work and xts3000 7. and emc 3.00 all keys work
