I have seen this discussed before, but I'm not entirely clear on what the "right" settings are for these options. If I am using one of these radios on 25KHz amateur radio, what are the settings that will make this radio sound the best?
Also, maybe I'm ignorant, but from the documentation, it's not exactly clear to me what these settings actually do - a good explanation would also be very helpful!

Re: Waris: Compression/Expansion/Emphasis
Compression and Expansion are methods of recovering audio fidelity from narrowband systems and rely on every radio on the system being programmed the same way. Leave both of them disabled for ham.
Emphasis selection should always be set to De-Emphasis and Pre-Emphasis. Long story short, it reduces high-frequency hiss in FM audio and should only be disabled when the radio is being used for data (like packet.)

Re: Waris: Compression/Expansion/Emphasis
Gotcha. So on a wideband ham channel, compression and expansion disabled, and emphasis set to de-emphasis and pre-emphasis. Thanks!
