ASTRO HT Battery Eliminator RTL-4224, component ID

I have a ASTRO HT battery eliminator, model #RTL-4224.
It has a specific warning on it, 10v MAX. Well, I hooked it up to my variable voltage power supply that was set at 12v and I forgot to turn the power down. You can probably guess what happened next. I let out the magic smoke.
After opening it up and inspecting it, it appears that one of the components (inductor?) was completely toast, so I removed it.

SO, my question is, what is that electronic component, and what exactly should I buy to replace it with??
