The motorola GTX with model number M11WGD4CB1AN is pretty simple to convert to the amatuer band. Has any one done this and is it worth it?

You will need a RIB, programming cable and a modified RSS to put a GTX mobile or portable on the 900 Mhz ham band.
I've done it and it is a very easy way to get on the 900Mhz ham band.

GTX

Yes the GTX portable and Mobile as well as the LCS2000 and LTS2000 are very easy to get going. You will need to change the bandlimits in the GTX.MDF file to allow this. I have been using GTX radios in Arizona on 900 for over 8 Years, and they still play just like the day I got em.

ok, so it looks like the GTX is the one to push into the 900 ham band lets get to specifics

pertaining to mobiles and Portables:

what model #s do I look for at the hamfest ?

are there any advantages from on model to another ?

are there filtering modifications necessary ?

are there VCO modifications necessary ?

are there any power amp modifications necessary ?

what is the part # of the RSS necessary to perform the modification ?

Is RSS modification necessary ?
