P1225 Upgrade?

Anyone had any luck with upgrading a P1225? I have messed around a little. But to no avail. I have a GOOD working 16CH VHF Non-display. And a dead 16CH w/Display. Would like to convert the Good radio into a display radio. Anyone tried it? Had any luck?

Just a simple thought, but have you tried replacing the front cover on the good one with the broken one?
