Convert XTL5000 O5 to Remote

Post by bnn121 »

I did a search for this on the board and even looked in the Knowledge Base for information on converting a Dash mount XTL5000 O5 head to a single remote mount head.

My MOL account does not list the kit number or even a parts breakdown. It shows the control cable only. I need the part numbers for the control head rear attachment and the drawer unit front attachment.

Or if there’s an actual kit number for this.

Thanks

The kit appears on MOL as
H1804A DASH TO REMOTE MOUNTING KIT should set you back around $250 depending on your pricing structure

Just a follow up to this search.

The posted part number kits are ONLY for the

XTL5000 W4, W5 and the W7 series controls heads.

I ordered the

H1804A kit.

It arrived today and found it to be for the above listed control heads. Not for the O4, O5 or O7 series control heads.

So the search continues.

i'd suggest calling Motorola parts ID anytime you have trouble finding what you're looking for... they are usually very good about getting the info, though you might wait on hold for a few minutes while they dig around

That is my next step. I seen from doing a Google search that if you order the XTL5000 O5 radio, there is a order option

Description Nomenclature APC Price
ADD: REMOTE MOUNT G67 514 $252.45

listed on this page

http://www.unitedradio.com/communicatio ... eadiii.pdf

They also show a Retrofit Kit Title, but no part number.

So, I'll give Parts ID a call and see if they can help me out.

Thanks

Thanks for taking the time looking that up...I sure would hate to order everything in this list that I might think is needed...then either having something I don't need...or not getting exactly what I need. But again, thanks for the list.

To build that with parts is over $500.

Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. How do you know which parts to order?

I haven't had a chance to call parts ID yet...to see if there is even a kit available? Crossing my fingers there is.

Well...I just got off the phone with Parts ID...who identified the part number as

H1818A

Then he told me that this kit can only be purchased at cost and I would have to contact my area sales rep. So, I don't have a cost just yet...but I do have the correct Kit number...I hope.

Going to be calling the Sales Rep shortly...unless there is a MSS on here that can order that part...or at least give me a price.

I'm looking for the O5 remote kit as well, but for the high-power model, not dash. I called parts ID and they gave me two kit#'s

H1814 and H1824

The call taker couldn't narrow down for me which kit I needed. Can one of you dealers determine whether the H1814 or the H1824 is the complete remote O5 kit for high-power XTL ... and also confirm that the H1818 is the remote O5 kit for mid-power/dashmount model?

Also, if these kits don't include mics, I need the part# for the O5 palm mic too please. TIA!

There are two different "Dash to Remote" mount kits.

H1804 is for the old W series control heads.
H1818A is for the new Odyssey control heads.

I ordered the H1804 kit via MOL and when it arrived it did not have a microphone in it...just the parts to convert a dash mount XTL5000 W4, W5 or W7 type control head to a remote mount. I have since sent it back for a credit. I have been in contact with a Sales Rep from Motorola...who has passed me off to another sales rep...which I have not called yet to get a price/availability quote from them.

From the conversations I've had with MOL, Customer Service and a Motorola APB Sales rep, the part number H1818A is the correct kit number. But you have to order it thru a Motorola APB Sales Rep. What it has in the kit...is unknown to me. If you get a patient MOL rep...they will break the kit down for you...but theres apparently a few parts in this kit...and could take some time on the phone with them...if they are willing.

Semi-old thread bump~

I went to order a TIB today (they're up to PMUN1036D now) and noticed that the description is now "TIB W/ AVR SFTWR." Do these now require a specific firmware version in the radio to operate?

No clue, I do have a few extra TIB's if you need any though.

Once upon a midnight dreary I had to update an AVR chip in an XTL control head under FSB10110 because the radio started spitting out false emergency activations after a flash upgrade. I would not be surprised at all if there was an AVR onboard the TIB as well. The description might mean that it has updated AVR software (just a wild guess, who knows how they come up with half the descriptions in the catalog).

I called Motorola on this trying to figure out why they jacked up the price of the TIBs by 33% when they subbed to the D revision. They told me the AVR software is embedded on one of the Atmel chips, apparently the TIBs have always had them and we can credit their nomenclature team for the "updated" product description.
