ML900 getting very HOT (cpu coolin fan innop?)

Apparently my ml900's cooling fan doesn't work? the unit becomes very hot but the cooling fan never runs. I took the cover off the fan and found the wires were pinched going to the fan but did not appear to be cut or shorted. I have never heard the fan run or felt it moving air.

Is there any good way to test the fan, of to see if the system is even telling it to turn on? any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Grant

It's a 5 volt fan with a speed sensor. I just tried the one I have on the bench with a 1 1/2 volt D cell going to red (+) and black (-) . It starts to turn, but with 3 volts it should spin at a reduced speed. I don't know where the sensor is to activate the fan, so if that is your problem I can't help you there. Good luck.

Probably your have ML900 with 1.7GHz CPU, they turn on the fan at very high temperatures, from 45-55 degrees of Celsius. This is a normal situation. There is no problem to have on your CPU about 70 degrees or more. P-4M CPU is making extremely hot and the integrated GPU is also very good producer of heat. Your ML900 shouldn´t have any problems with that.

The newer version of ML900 (1.8 GHZ) has a differemt fan policy. The fan starts at about 39 degrees of Celsius.
