I still repair Motorola RIB's.

The Polaris box may not work on some Motorola radios.

The Motorola rib is the most efficient interface, any brand of radio program
100% repairable by your technician
Take photos of both sides without covers
the most common flaw is the battery contacts
and Zener diodes (damper) input and output to radio
is easier to fall through cables to PC o RIB to radio.

The only radio I have had issues with the Polaris box is the MCS2000. It is very sensitive to low voltage
and generally doesn't work with my Polaris box.

Do a Google search for MOTOROLA RIB BOX and you'll come up with several sources for cheap
RIB boxes, also for the real Motorola boxes.

I used a Polaris PA-II RIB for a few years. It programmed HT1000s and others from the Jedi line with no complaints or issues.

The only radio it didn't like was the M1225, and it did that abruptly after working great for the whole time I had it.

The Polaris box doesn't play well with the Sabers, also.

For an aftermarket rib, I highly recommend the Sandy Ganz design. You can get them at www.radiostew.com

Interesting, in that I used my Polaris PA-III RIB for many years with Sabers, System Sabers and Astro Sabers with 0 problems. In what way has your experience indicated to you that they don't work well with Sabers?

It bricked one when writing to it. Reads OK, though. Same DOS computer that is used with anything else I program.

My Motorola RIB just broke down during a large programming job. Would like to purchase another OEM box. Are there models other than the RLN4008 ?

RLN4008E is the current version with surface mount components. The easiest to repair is the RLN4008B if you can find one. Or you can get the more expensive SmartRIB RLN1015C for programming (just as the rib) or for flash upgrades.
