future of MotoTrbo? You guys wanna validate the information

while searching for the LTR trunking boards for the xpr6500, i found a presentation which lists other future items for the MotoTrbo - including 3600 baud trunking systems? using MTR equipment... check out the PPT... just stumbled on the document during a google search...

I am pretty sure that is regarding option boards Motorola will have available at the end of the year. Motorola will have you buy TRBOs with option boards to use on the existing system, with the idea being you'd eventually migrate to TRBO trunking at some point.

I know Motorola is going to be releasing the MTR3000 early next year; they are adding conversion kits for the MTR2000 to turn it into a 3000, but I don't think it has hit the street yet. As an aside, Motorola is now offering the MTR2000 in 800 and 900MHz

If anyone out there is tapped into the rumor mill, is multi-site trunking still on the roadmap? Any reason to believe it would not be available in VHF and work with the XPR series repeaters in lieu of the MTR series?

In a webinar yesterday, Motorola said "Connect Plus" multi-site digital trunking for Trbo is slated for next year sometime. There was no talk about what external equipment may be required.

No, "Connect Plus" truly is the term Motorola has coined for their future TRBO multi-site trunked system. Currently due for availability Q3 of 2010...the infrastructure will have controllers at each site (the current Capacity Plus single site systems do not use controllers). I don't have any info on the controllers at this time, but do know the field units will require an expansion board. There is a field upgrade install kit available for existing units, PMLN5496AS, at $100 per unit. Mobiles will also require an additional kit, HLN7001, which contains the needed screws & flex to mount the board. If ordering new radios, including the board is option QA01638 at a cost of $50. 800/900MHz units will ship with the board standard...it is not required for the SmartNet/Privacy Plus operation, but it is assumed the clients will be migrating towards Connect Plus digital trunked systems in the future.
