UHF Astro Saber firmware question.

Post by N4KVE »

A friend of mine showed me an "R" split AS2 last week that was recently purchased from the net here. It was in really nice shape, but the host/dsp has me puzzled. When I put the radio in service mode, this is what was displayed. Host 7.08.00 dsp 8.99.02. When I read the for sale ad & saw 8.99.02, I figured it was a typo & didn't think about it. But when I saw the radio in person & confirmed that's what was displayed, I said hmmmmm. From what I've read here the latest host/dsp is 7.71.06/8.03.05. So how can an AS2 have a dsp of 8.99.02? Most likely a SP DSP firmware created for a specific customer to solve a specific issue.
