emailing serial server logs

Concept: capture serial server output to a text file from midnight to midnight everyday. Then send that file by email to my addy.
Hardware: Stancil XP logging recorder already built into equipment rack with open usb ports for usb to eth adapter for dual nic operation so it can connect to isolated radio subnet where serial server resides.
Needed:
1 - Win tool to capture serial server output and write to a file that changes daily (similar in concept to Hyperterm text rx function).
2 - Win tool to file attach and mail captured log.
3 - Might possibly need a chron if native Win scheduler is insufficient.
4 - envisioning a batch file to run this - capture todays date (date pipe $string var), create a file named after date string, starting capture process aimed at server addy/port, run until midnight, close process, start email process, return to top capturing date, starting proc, etc.
Any advise is appreciated. thx
