It's worth looking at the video, "Mission Critical Wireless Earpiece" Let the crys begin. White cop chases black suspect, come on Motorola, you could do better that that. http://www.youtube.com/user/MotorolaPub ... z0GMetR-So

firecpt809, yellow and lime green cases have been available for the APX since release. This is an entirely new radio.

Re: New product announcements in the APX line
looking at the APX6000 there is no Range 2 for UHF listed.
Re: New product announcements in the APX line
I think their goal is to get the 6000 out in 800mhz before any other band as early as 2010Q4.
For whatever reason Motorola doesn't have the demand for R2 UHF since it took them until this month to start pumping them out.... I'd guess that R2 UHF for the 6000 will be a year before they get to it.

If you are referring to the mission critical earpiece, they are working on a new BT Dongle for the XTS series to allow just that.dfc2 wrote:OK.. gotta ask.. any chance this will work in the cheep seats? XTS1500 ?

Re: New product announcements in the APX line
Hmmm, something tells me the APX line will eventually be the permanent replacement for the XTS5000 .
I LOVE the design of the entire APX line, but I guess the question remains is,
1. How much longer will the XTS5000 have before being discontinued, and
2. If and when the XTS is discontinued, will the APX take it's spot ?

Oh I am sure that is the game plan and not only will it replace the XTS5K, it will also probably look to replace the XTS2500 with the APX6K.MT2000 man wrote:Hmmm, something tells me the APX line will eventually be the permanent replacement for the XTS5000 .

Personally, I hope that they maintain the XTS2500/ XTS1500/MT1500 line. There are a lot of users out there who don't have the need for a highly featured radio like the APX.
Time frame...I give it less than 2 years but I'm sure /\/\ marketing want's it to happen next week.
Re: New product announcements in the APX line
Big problem - XTS5000/2500 won't do Phase 2 now, and Moto seems to want to push everyone that way. I suspect the radios *could* do it, but they won't release firmware to do it...KS4VT wrote:Personally, I hope that they maintain the XTS2500/ XTS1500/MT1500 line. Re: New product announcements in the APX line
I believe it would require AMBE in the vocoder to do Phase II, no?

That video was hilarious! I love the kids at the end - *presses emergency* "What did you do!?"KD8CPP wrote:I love the firefighters first day video. I might need that radio.
The bandsplit is only a suggestion.
Re: New product announcements in the APX line
The vocoder is in the DSP AFAIK...escomm wrote:I believe it would require AMBE in the vocoder to do Phase II, no?
