XTS TCP/IP link

Post by Medic12 »

Wondering if anyone has successfully used a pair of Astro25 radios with packet data option as a point to point TCP/IP link without any additional hardware. Just 2 radios.

I'm aware the connection would be ridiculously slow... more looking for a proof of concept here.

Example of a potential goal: PC with internet connection sharing over serial with PPP to a XTS 5000 --> over the air --> XTS 5000 receives and connects to remote PC as a serial modem.

Or something similar.

Yes, see this thread:

You can roll your own or use the Data Link Manager software package (NVN5314) to setup the host computer to radio IP connection.

Web surfing on anyhting other than a text based page is out and if you connect a modern PC to the far end the link will be overloaded with Windows OS and virus updates, network disucovery pakaets, etc. But if you run a well designed application that doesn't need much data and turn off everything else it does work quite well.
